Organic Compound Sensors

New research by Technische Universität München (TUM) has led to a break through in organic sensors that could be used in cameras in the future. Upto three times more sensitive to light then current CMOS sensors, simpler and cheaper to produce the research into the use of an organic photoactive layer rather than silicon photodiodes may lead to a real step up in performance in cameras and other devices. The process also makes the production of sensors sensitive to other parts of the spectrum, such as infra-red, commercially feasible.
